Sigma Teaching School Alliance
In 2016 The Quay School in Poole was designated as a National Teaching School and formed Sigma Teaching School Alliance. Sigma is an alliance of primary, secondary, alternative provision and special schools with the shared aim of working collaboratively to improve outcomes for all students within our schools and beyond. Our alliance members have a broad range of skills and expertise and include outstanding leaders from across the educational continuum. All are committed to working in partnership to support school improvement at all levels.
Sigma offers a comprehensive range of support to primary schools, secondary schools, special schools, alternative provisions, colleges and early years settings including:
- Bespoke school to school support (see School Improvement below)
- School specific INSET and other CPD
- A wide range of centre-based courses
- Facilitating the sharing of evidence informed practices through conferences and collaborative networks.

School Improvement
Through the work of our teaching school we have developed an effective model of school to school support which enables us to support schools to develop models of effective, evidence informed practice which work within their individual context. This process is based on principles of collaborative partnership driven by high expectations and supported by the high levels of challenge and support.
Our ethos and approach to school improvement can be summarised as:
